Now ther are Alternatives to Traditional Groundcover
By: Scott Thompson, Vice President Sales & Marketing
The reality of the shrinking availability of our most valuable resource, wood fiber, has never been more apparent than today. Land clearing has yet to pick up steam, lumber mills continue to shut down and competing forces, such as pellet fuel plants, continue to expand; all adding to the fact that wood fiber availability has not only flattened but has retracted. The last factor listed, competing forces, tells us that even if some of the wood waste generating streams increase, availability will remain the same; yet the demand for groundcover continues to be strong in the marketplace.
Over the years, the mulch and soil industry has seen many evolutions and changes. At one time there was no such thing as colored mulch. You can go a step further and, once upon a time, there was no such thing as bark mulch. Market forces will drive yet another change. Amerimulch has seen this challenge coming down the tracks for some time and has creative solutions to offer.
The Zera System™ is specifically designed to color aggregate and rubber raw materials, which yield many of the same benefits as color-enriched mulch. Supported by our new lines of Amara™ and Ricochet™ colorants formulated for superior bonding, coating and coverage, the next generation of groundcover is here. Coating aggregate and rubber takes a whole new chemistry than wood fiber. Amerimulch, the industry leader, is looking forward to bringing this technology to today’s producers.
